Kokomo Summer Concert Series

The city of Kokomo is proud to present its 2017 free admission summer concert series at Foster Park Amphitheater in downtown Kokomo. This year’s lineup will feature a strong mix of legendary hits and headliners across a wide spectrum of genres.

About the series

Coinciding with many of the local themed festivals, the summer concert series adds to the community’s lineup of entertaining activities for area families. “The City of Kokomo is once again excited to announce the 2017 Kokomo Summer Concert Series lineup of talented artists,” said Kokomo Mayor Greg Goodnight. “Every year the series attracts Kokomo families and more out-of-town guests to Foster Park and is one of the state’s best entertainment values.”

All concerts are family friendly, ideal for those on a date night or spending time with family or friends. Participants are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets for each evening packed with fantastic entertainment.

Proceeds benefit local nonprofit organizations. Concerts are free to the public.

Summer concerts for the 2017 season include:

Sat, June 10: Kokomo Ribfest: Kevin Eubanks Quartet. Eubanks is a gifted musician and composer who is well known as the Music Director of The Tonight Show Band when Jay Leno played host, appearing on the show for 18 years (1992-2010). The Kevin Eubanks Quartet will open the 2017 Kokomo concert series with Rob Dixon Trio supporting. The Indy Jazz Fest and Jazz Foundation will also be on-site supporting this event.

The Haynes Apperson Festival 2017. Schedule is as follows:

Fri, June 30: Blues Traveler: Grammy award winning band known for hit singles “Run-Around”, “But Anyway”, “Hook”, “The Mountains Win Again” and more. The band’s lead singer John Popper has also appeared on many other recordings including playing harmonica on “What Would You Say” by the Dave Matthews Band. The show will feature local opening act the Jason Skaggs Band.

Sat, July 1: Grand Funk Railroad: David Fricke of Rolling Stone magazine once said, “You cannot talk about rock in the 1970’s without talking about Grand Funk Railroad!” Grand Funk Railroad features founding members Don Brewer and Mel Schacher joined by veterans Max Carl (38 Special), Bruce Kulick (KISS) and Tim Cashion (Bob Seger). Grand Funk Railroad is known for some of the biggest and most popular stadium rock hits of the 70’s including “We’re An American Band”, “Some Kind of Wonderful”, “The Loco-Motion”, “I’m Your Captain/Closer to Home”, “Bad Time” and “Are You Ready?”. The show will feature local opening act Rogers Ritual Band.

Sat, July 22: Indiana State Harley Owners Group: Mitch Ryder and the Detroit Wheels. One of Rolling Stone magazine’s top five most influential rock and roll singers to ever come from Detroit. Mitch Ryder and the Detroit Wheels, are known for their timeless hits including “Devil with a Blue Dress” and “Jenny Take a Ride”. Mitch Ryder also had a hit with the song “When You Were Mine”, which was written by Prince. The show will feature an opening set by Indiana based rock band The Easthills.

Sat, July 29: Rhumfest – This annual event will feature local Kokomo area favorites including the Summer Sonic Class and various solo performers and bands from Rhum Academy including Kassey King, Courtney Pitzer, Pale Giants, Gary and Jessica Rhum and a headlining performance by Visual Signals.

Sat, Aug 12: WeberFest – Son Volt is an American alternative country group, formed by Jay Farrar in 1994 after the breakup of Uncle Tupelo. Presented by Weber Speakers, the show will also feature opening acts Song Syndrome from Nebraska and Black Radio from Maryland.

Sat, Sept 23: Octoberfest: ZOSO – The Ultimate Led Zeppelin Experience– performing a night of the most accurate and captivating Led Zeppelin live show since the real thing with special guests Hero Jr. from Indianapolis and an opening set by local favorite Alan Kaye.

Kokomo Performing Arts Pavilion

Kokomo Performing Arts Pavilion is an outdoor music venue located at the corner of Washington and Superior Streets in downtown Kokomo, Ind. The summer concert series is an annual event featuring live music shows in a festive, family-friendly environment. Participants are encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs and blankets. All proceeds of the summer concert series benefit local nonprofit organizations.
