Battle of the Bands

MOKB Presents has announced the return of Battle of the Bands, the popular local music series which will take place every Wednesday night starting on October 2nd at HI-FI. Up to 72 Indiana bands will compete in a single-elimination contest where the winning band will receive $10,000 cash and a touring van, among other prizes.

Top acts will be determined by a unique formula of audience and guest judge voting. First and semifinal rounds will take place at HI-FI in Fountain Square with the finals slated for February 15, 2020 at The Vogue in Broad Ripple. The event is open to Indiana bands and musicians of all styles and genres.

This particular Battle of the Bands concept, or “The B.O.B” as it is known, was perfected by MOKB Presents co-founder Josh Baker during its weekly run at Broad Ripple’s The Patio from 2001-2006.

The Battle of the Bands, combined with HI-FI’s New Faces Nights, continues MOKB Presents commitment to support and develop local talent originating from Indiana.

Artists will advance in the competition based on a formula of audience ballots and judges votes.

Each night, fans are given ballots at the door and will vote for their 3 favorite bands. Those ballots are tabulated nightly, along with the judges votes, to determine which bands will advance to the next round.  MOKB Presents will publish the results to the official event website each week.

The entire first round lineup will be announced before October 1, 2019.

Band registration

Bands interested in performing in the Battle of the Bands can register now via the Battle of the Bands site on MOKBPresents.com. Artist Registration fee is $50, and is limited to the first 72 bands to register. Participating bands will receive their registration fee back after the completion of their performance in the first round.  Bands will also be compensated for their performances in subsequent rounds.  The event is open to only Indiana artists who meet the criteria, as laid out in the official event rules. Band Registration ends September 4, or once 72 bands have registered.
