Pat McAfee
About Pat McAfee
It’s easy to say no one expected Pat McAfee—the most successful punter in Indianapolis Colts history—to retire from the NFL in 2017 and focus full-time on a burgeoning comedy career. But defying expectations with disarming humor and brutal honesty has always been the McAfee way, whether he’s splitting uprights or splitting sides. In high school, McAfee turned a friend’s $100 loan into a $1,400 poker payout—using the winnings to travel to Miami and compete in a national field goal-kicking competition. After nailing nine consecutive field goals (and missing a 70-yard attempt by inches), McAfee was off to West Virginia. Drafted by the Colts in 2009, McAfee became a two-time Pro Bowl selection and ended his NFL career after his best season yet. A longtime regular guest on the Bob & Tom Show, McAfee tried his hand at standup comedy in 2015. His frank, forthcoming set was an immediate hit, and McAfee has since toured across Indiana commanding stages and sharing stories about the nervousness of the NFL draft process, adjusting to professional sports, and life in the Hoosier State. McAfee is now a contributor to the satirical blog Barstool Sports—for which he’s a podcast host of The Pat McAfee Show — and also a philanthropist, providing assistance to sons and daughters of military personnel. Relatable and ridiculously funny—and with zero filter—McAfee has now turned his obsessive mind toward humor in hopes of “making the world a happier place.”
