“A Raisin in the Sun” at IRT Community Night

The Indiana Repertory Theatre has announced that its fourth annual community night will take place on January 16, and celebrates the first play of the New Year, A Raisin in the Sun by Lorraine Hansberry and directed by Timothy Douglas.

What is Community Night?

Since 2014, the IRT has welcomed more than 230 patrons through its doors for community night, encouraging patrons to pay what they choose to enjoy a night of top-quality and entertaining live theatre.

“Our mission to create top-quality theatre and enriching experiences is amplified during our annual community night,” said Danielle M. Dove, IRT’s Director of Marketing and Sales.  “We’re excited to extend an invitation to the community to share in the life-changing magic of the IRT.”

How to get tickets

Patrons who wish to purchase tickets for community night can do so by visiting the Ticket Office located at 140 W. Washington Street, Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., beginning January 9.

“Ticket prices range from $25-60 for this particular performance, and we invite the community to pay what they choose to see this production,” said Suzanne Sweeny, IRT’s Managing Director. “While some might choose to pay $5, others may choose to pay full price and we welcome anything in between.”

Meet the actors

IRT leadership also invites patrons to a pre-show meet and greet from 6:30-7 p.m. with company staff in the IRT’s The Oasis to help familiarize first-time patrons with the Theatre. Patrons can also enjoy a pre-show chat starting at 6:50 p.m. featuring actors from A Raisin in the Sun.
