“Anything Goes” at Civic
Booth Tarkington Civic Theatre and the Great American Songbook Foundation have partnered to celebrate the artistry of an iconic musician. Indiana native Cole Porter’s ANYTHING GOES opens Civic’s 104th year of continuous operation, and 8th year at the Tarkington, on Friday, October 12, 2018.
Civic partnering with Songbook Foundation
Civic Executive Artistic Director Michael Lasley said, “Civic is extraordinarily lucky to have the Great American Songbook Foundation as its partner. The important work they do in preserving and promoting this uniquely American genre makes it easier for us to produce such great works as ANYTHING GOES.”
Through the generosity of the Great American Songbook Foundation, audience members can see authentic materials from the Songbook Foundation Archives that celebrate Porter, a 2012 Songbook Hall of Fame inductee, on display in the lobby.
Chris Lewis, Executive Director of the Great American Songbook Foundation, noted, “The continued relevance of our nation’s great popular music depends on the active re-interpretation of groundbreaking works that defined the Golden Age of the Great American Songbook.
