Colts Kickoff Concert
With the start of the Indianapolis Colts regular season less than two months away, the team announced that it will host its 5th Annual Kickoff Concert, presented by Verizon — the better network with the largest and most reliable 4G LTE network in the nation. The concert will be held on Saturday, September 9, on the east block of Georgia Street and will feature Frankie Ballard, Clayton Anderson, and Corey Cox. The Kickoff Concert is sponsored in part by Bud Light and supported in part by Hank FM and Downtown Indy, Inc. The event is free and open to the public, but requires a ticket for entry. About Frankie Ballard
When Frankie Ballard was growing up in Battle Creek, Michigan, his father played him one classic album over and
over again: Marty Robbins‘ “Gunfighter Ballads and Trail Songs,” featuring Robbins’ signature hit “El Paso.” Now
Ballard, a quick-draw guitarist and rough-hewn singer, has cut his own metaphorical gunfighter album, decamping
from Nashville to a gritty El Paso studio to record the follow-up to his 2014 breakout Sunshine & Whiskey.
“There is something you have to fundamentally understand about me: my dream goes the whole way. It goes all the
way. So I want more people hearing my music,” he says. “So what are you going to do, Frankie? Well, I guess I’m
going to try to make some better music. And if it’s not better than what I did before, there’s no reason for it to come
out. I don’t want to maintain altitude – I want to fly, man.”
About Clayton Anderson
In the past three years, Clayton Anderson has managed to do the unthinkable—he’s cracked into country music backwards, independently, and with a fury. Opening for some of country’s biggest stars such as Jason Aldean, Eric Church, Kenny Chesney, and Jimmy Buffett, Clayton has put himself on the map the old-fashioned way – playing backrooms, side stages, and honky-tonks from Michigan to Florida, each time gaining a few more fans and a better foothold on areas that aren’t traditional country strongholds.
Growing up in Southern Indiana, Clayton’s influences include music from Elvis Presley to Conway Twitty, Garth Brooks to Kenny Chesney, Johnny Cash to Eric Church, and Bruce Springsteen to Indiana’s own, John Mellencamp. Clayton began playing music as a hobby in college at Indiana University in Bloomington, and after a few years playing locally, Clayton won Kenny Chesney’s Next Big Star competition. At that point, Clayton quit his day job, moved to Nashville and decided to pour his heart and soul into music.
About Corey Cox
While on the road and splitting time between his home state of Indiana and Nashville, TN the past five years, Corey
has shared the stage with Sugarland, Dierks Bentley, Darius Rucker, Josh Turner, and Chris Young at prestigious music venues, tours, rodeos, fairs and festivals across the country. Continuing his rapid climb in the country music world over the past several years, Corey performed for tens of thousands of fans in the Super Bowl XLVI Village,
sang the National Anthem at the Brickyard 400 Nationwide Race, has taken his music to the Caribbean as part of the
“Country Cruising” voyage, and secured a major sponsorship with Coors Banquet beer. Corey has built his name through his relatable lyrics, contagious songs, and energetic live shows – a combination that has attracted a strong and loyal following. Light It Up, the latest six-song EP from Corey released in September 2015, was produced by Thom Daugherty – known in his own right for guitar work in the rock band The Elms and then in the touring lineup of the Band Perry. Wake Up Drunk, the breakthrough single from Corey, was co-written with Joe Denim – musician, comedian, and songwriter of some of country music’s biggest hits. This hooky-as-hell single followed the third CD from Corey, Good Night Comin’ On, which includes 6 tracks, all written by Corey himself, capturing unforgettable coming-of-age moments that are relatable for anyone at any age, in any life situation. Available on iTunes, Corey co-produced the
album with Dave McAffee. Dave is known as one of the Kent Hardly Playboys, a group of guys recognized as co-
producers on the Grammy-nominated Jamey Johnson albums, That Lonesome Song and The Guitar Song.
