Indianapolis Men’s Chorus
In challenging times throughout history, Americans have turned to music for encouragement — from “The Battle Hymn of the Republic” during the Civil War, to “Brother, Can You Spare a Dime” during the Great Depression, to “Turn! Turn! Turn!” during the political and social upheavals of the 1960s.
Today we’re facing a new era of uncertainty, driven by globalization, immigration, automation, and other forces that cause deep division among us. And once again, music has the power to unify and inspire us.
Spring concert
That’s why the Indianapolis Men’s Chorus is dedicating our spring concert to the theme of My American Song. We’re presenting a wide selection of music that celebrates who we are as a people and challenges us to be a stronger nation. We’ll offer great patriotic standards (“America the Beautiful”) and appeals to our better angels (“Let There Be Peace on Earth”). We’ll also sing a bevy of Bob Dylan hits, a Michael Jackson tribute, and selections from Hamilton and Ragtime.
Mission of Men’s Chorus
At the IMC we’re committed to creating a more inclusive community, and we believe that despite differences, Americans can come together to achieve this mission. My American Song is our attempt to demonstrate this. We hope you’ll join us April 28th and 29th at the Marian University Theater for this inspiring and uplifting concert.
